Oriveti Bleqk Purecaster IEMs Review – Large Dynamic Driver Powers

Oriveti Bleqk Purecaster IEMs Review – Large Dynamic Driver Powers

Oriveti Bleqk Purecaster is a $149 USD pair of IEMs or In-Ear Monitors with a single dynamic driver at the core, and part of the Oriveti new BLEQK line of entry-level products. The naming stands for Basic Line Exquisite Quality Kept and it is Oriveti’s new project to make an affordable line of products with a good quality.

Introduction

Oriveti is a Chifi company from China that we know from other reviews. While their products seem to have a fairly long life cycle, the company seems to have discontinued some of the older lines of products in favor of newer lines, so we will do our best to review all their new releases. Oriveti products can be purchased from Amazon and Aliexpress and they are known for a good warranty and high quality for their products.

As an Amazon Influencer, I earn from qualifying purchases, and using the purchase links in my reviews helps me maintain this website and Youtube Channel. Audiophile-Heaven has no Ads and our Youtube Channel has no midroll ads, and our work is supported by Affiliate Links and Donations. Huge thanks to Oriveti for providing the sample for this review, in exchange for my honest opinion.

Build Quality And Design

Purecaster is a pair of IEMs designed around the new 12.2mm dynamic driver developed and designed by Oriveti, with an aluminum-magnesium alloy at the core, for a unique tuning and resolution. With shells made of solid CNC’ed aluminum, the sound should be rigid and snappy, and it also features an interchangeable nozzle system for easy tuning and customization.

In the marketing, the company promises unparalleled clarity and precision and I am happy to report that they deliver the Purecaster IEMs with a modular cable that is detachable and based on the 2-Pin connector. It comes with both 3.5mm and 4.4mm jack connectors.

At the technical level, Purecaster sounds like a stratocaster in name and comes with a high impedance of 32 OHMs, a FR of 20 Hz – 20 kHz, and a SPL of 112.5 dB / mW, with a deviation of 3 dB. Distortion is lower than 0.08%, the package includes a transport case, the IEMS, one cable and two types of eartips, named bulled shaped.

Subjective Usage

IEM Shells are on the very heavy end of things, being one of the heaviest pair of IEMs that I tested to date, but they are comfortable, ergonomic and fairly small, so they will work with most ears just fine. Cable is a bit kinky, but does not conduct microphonic noise. Passive noise isolation is constant, not very high, around 10 dB to 15 dB, but it does not improve much with music playing, likely due to the ventilation.

With minimal leakage, Purecaster is quite good for portability. There is no writing anywhere, on the official website or otherwise what each eartip does, what each filter does, so it is hard to approximate what you’re doing when fine tuning. Cable is modular and works well for both SE and balanced, which is very nice in this price range. Including the excellent transport case is also great.

Sound Quality

Pairings – I have used my latest collection of sources to test the Oriveti Purecaster, and the list includes FiiO K17, Audioengine HXL, Shanling Onix Beta XI2, Surfans F35 Music Player DAP, iBasso D17 Atheris, Burson Playmate 3, Rose Technics RT-5000, and Luxsin X9

Bleqk purecaster is fairly easy to drive and does not require a lot of power from the source. It is not sensitive to source quality or source noise either, which is great for entry-level users and the people who are likely to buy the Purecaster.

Overall Signature – At their heart, purecaster are a balanced V-Shaped pair of IEMS with a strong treble, natural midrange, and a fairly warm bass. Separation and soundstage is natural, and Purecaster does not exaggerate in any dimension, being one of the safest choices in the whole world. It is basically the kind of IEMs that will work well for everyone, not offensive in any way, not lacking anything, but not exaggerated in any aspect of their sound.

Bass – Sub-low extension starts at around 30 Hz, with most strength between 45 Hz and 80 Hz, but without a strong emphasis that would otherwise color the sound. The only audible coloration is a bit of upper bass and lower midrange emphasis that gives music body and presence, especially for male voices, to keep the sound away from being too bright or following the Chifi standard tuning you get with Kz IEMs and most entry-levels usually.

Voicing And Midrange – Vocals are natural, slightly bright and slightly open, but not very far from balanced and natural. Both male and female voices sound direct and present, quite evident and in-your-face. This being said, there is a distinction between forward and background layers, so everything has a clean cut separation.

Treble – Top end extends nicely up to 16 kHz, with a fairly sharp and strong presence between 9 kHz and 14 kHz. This means that sound will be quite bright and airy, a bit metallic in tinge and resonance, and a bit on the harder end for impact.

Dynamics And Textures – As Purecaster uses a single dynamic driver, it should have perfect cohesiveness, but instead it has a somewhat slow bass and sound accelerates the higher you climb in frequency. This creates a hard overall impact, a hard midrange, and fast, super revealing treble that enhances textures and gives sound a bit of grain. Dynamic range has a compression effect, which makes music a bit more detailed, a bit flatter and helps with making each quieter sound easier to hear. Overall, this approach is both expected and a good idea in the entry-level.

Loudness Saturation Gradient – Purecaster gets a bit better with higher volumes, but it is generally balanced and consistent across volume levels, not very dependent on the listening volume to sound good.

Soundstage – You can expect a wide and holographic staging with the purecaster. Instrument separation is great, but there is limited depth, as there is a clear foreground layer and a clear background layer, but depth in between is limited. Width is good, sound can expand a bit beyond the confines of your head.

Value and Conclusion

Oriveti Bleqk Purecaster has good value, it comes with multiple eartips, a modular cable, a nice transport case but costs very little, bearing a very high price performance ratio.

I like the Purecaster, it is easy to recommend to most people, has a bold enough bass to satisfy my needs for low-end in EDM and even rock and metal, has enough treble to be fun, vocals are not very recessed, and everything is in adequate quantities, including width, to make the sound enjoyable. Purecaster is a recommended purchase in this range, especially if it is one of your early IEMS.
