Anti-Audio Solutions – Saccater Focus and Moment Earplugs For Noise Reduction
Today we study two Saccater Noise-Reducing Earplugs the Focus (189 USD) and the Moment (240 USD), both made for reducing the SPL levels around you, but one made for sleep, one made for going to concerts and allowing you to enjoy music without fear of hearing loss and degradation.
Introduction
Saccater is a new company in our review roster, and a company whose products I never knew I needed, never wanted to try before, but which now became part of my daily routine. In fact, I had to move once from the old place I lived in for the previous 4 years, and I chose a large apartment, with enough space for our entire studio and collection of almost 1000 products from over the years, but I did not quite understood just how noisy the environment is when you live in an apartment. This led us to moving from the old house we lived in Bucharest to the temporary apartment that I’m writing this review from, although we are hopeful that we will be able to move from this place very soon.
The problem with big cities is that people often have to live in apartments to be anywhere near the center, and this is incredibly sad from many perspectives, from air pollution, to noise pollution and having neighbors. I found myself in a situation where I could not rest well ever since having arrived here, there is an upstairs neighbor that makes so much noise, is constantly at home and is so annoying that I can barely do my work, although I am hopeful that by the time I manage to also publish this review I will already be in a better place.
Now, the problem with that is also when you don’t sleep exactly at the same hour as everyone else, and that’s a big thing for me, because to be able to review, and to program, I often work late at night and sleep late in the morning / day, as at night I simply have better focus and feel more relaxed. This means that if there is noise in the morning, I won’t be able to sleep, and this resulted in me losing weeks of sleep because of that upstairs neighbor. Not only that, but the constant thumping and hitting of walls woke me in panic attacks and made me need hospital visits during these periods, so naturally I had to look into some ways to be able to get better sleep. This is partly how we arrive at the Saccater Earplugs which are basically an anti audio, anti sound earplug that silences sounds around you. Sadly, I only have one pair of Focus and one pair of Moment, although each one of them has a different purpose. I wish I had two pairs of each because my wife also needs a pair of each.
To be completely honest, I would have written this review as a comedy piece and critique the products, if I wasn’t met with so much noise and if I didn’t actually understand how much someone can need a noise canceling earplug and how much those can help some people, so I am truly grateful they exist and that I can use them daily, and review them.

Saccater Moment
Saccater Moment is an earplug that is ergonomic, has multiple color options and a solid plug / body which you can order in a selection of so many colors you’d believe you’d become a marine life form, as only those can see so many colors. The company promotes this model for reduction of traffic noise, wind noise, to reduce SPL at Theaters, music festivals, large events, night clubs and driving a motorcycle and for drummers.
To give you the short story, Saccater Moment uses microperforated panel MMP absorption, which theoretically reduces the SPL without damaging the sound quality. It actually looks like an earphone with a tube that goes inside the outer solid plug, which acts like a filtering mechanism. It is far more effective in the higher frequencies, having a 13dB Noise Reduction at minimum around 125 Hz, and up to 25 dB of noise reduction around 2000 Hz and above.
They come with 4 sets of eartips, and a transport case which is made of plastic but which is extremely hard and wear resistant. Eartips provided are of excellent quality, similar to ddHiFi ST-35, but better. Overall noise reduction is a bit higher than wearing IEMS that have a strong passive noise isolation, but Saccater Moment allows you to dance, they really stay inside of your ears, even if you move a lot, and they are much lighter than any IEMs I tested, without having a deep fit or feeling uncomfortable.
My personal experience is that they are excellent, I actually wore them at a wedding and a concert, they give me an effective -30 dB in the midrange, which is excellent, you will hear music as loud, but have absolutely zero hearing damage, ringing and tinnitus after a concert. For sleeping, this is not the model you want, because it is hard and pressed against the ear, and it will wake you up due to discomfort. Honestly, they are great for reducing SPL in general, but not for sleep.
Also, if you have a noisy neighbor, they will not help that much, because they filter much less noise in the lower frequencies so thumps, beats and stuff that usually comes from upstairs neighbors are not filtered well, quite on the contrary, when you filter the midrange by 20 dB, but bass by 10dB, it amplifies the relative sound of neighbor noise, although it reduces the absolute SPL.
Saccater Focus
Saccater Focus is a Super Soft Silicone Eartip that comes in far fewer colors than the Moment, with the same transport case, same eartips, but a different design. Focus is a model that will minimize noise, it has NRR17 and SNR23 certification, and they should be good to use for up to 5 years. Saccater sells the Focus as Noise Reduction for canceling loud phone calls, crying babies, train noise and airplane travel.
Same 4 sets of eartips are included like with the Moment, but everything about the Focus is more comfortable, more ergonomic and feels better inside of the ears. The only downside is that the sound quality is not as good, so if you go to a concert, everything sounds more muffled with less bass impact and kick. Those are perfect for sleeping, and my wife has been thankful to Saccater every single day for providing her with something that gives her a peaceful sleep and a few moments of relaxation during times when there is too much noise here.
You actually do not feel the focus inside of your ears, you can sleep with them, they are soft and flexible, will not damage your ears and hearing, and can be worn all-day long provided you pull them out from time to time to avoid too much moisture forming inside of your ears. Noise reduction profile is different, with a strong reduction of around 25 dB in the bass, around 20 dB of reduction between 200 Hz and 700 Hz, so mid bass and more boomy sounds are still audible, but a significant 30 dB of noise reduction above 1000 Hz, so voices and most midrange based noise is removed effectively.
Value and Conclusion
You cannot put a price on silence, on protecting your hearing and on being responsible. I feel like for an audiophile who prizes his hearing, Saccater Moment is excellent for those times you need to attend a concert with a lot of noise, and I wouldn’t mind paying up for something that allows me to still hear the sound but which will protect my hearing. And as for sleeping, it really is priceless, being able to sleep and rest properly, so the price of the Focus and Moment from Saccater, if you need them, is completely justified.
Saccater sells a separate kit for keeping the earplugs around your neck, but I feel like that is an unnecessary addition. This being said, they are incredibly easy to lose, and often Mary searches for them in the bed after sleeping and pulling them off in the morning, so that kit might be useful for some.
At the end of the day, make sure to get the one you need, Focus is more powerful, softer, more comfortable and it is made for sleep, but will not allow for a good sonic reproduction, so not great for concerts, while moment is hard, not great for sleep, but can reduce SPL while still allowing you to enjoy a concert and loud noisy environments while protecting your hearing.

We listened to more songs than those named in this playlist, but those are excellent for identifying a sonic signature. I recommend trying most of the songs from this playlist, especially if you’re searching for new music! The playlists are different for Spotify, Tidal and Youtube, and based on the songs I enjoy and are available on each!
