Redragon Galatin Pro K719 Gaming Keyboard Review – Beautiful Lightweight Typing Machine
Redragon Galatin Pro K719 is a $79 USD gaming keyboard with a beautiful jade green color, 95-key design, LCD screen and volume wheel, OEM profile and PBt keycaps and with a Linear Mambo Switch at the core. Today we will review the Galatin Pro and explore whether you can pay so little for a keyboard but still have a pleasing typing and gaming experience.
Introduction
Redragon is the kind of company that fights fiercely in the entry-level, and in the past I’ve used their products, including a couple of membrane based keyboards. The model I’ve used was a flat model that had zero sound, but typing was not comfortable, as it was very rubbery feeling, yet the experience of owning a redragon product was not bad at all, so today we explore how the company evolved and how they want to fight with others by having products at just half the price of the usual mechanical keyboard.

Build Quality – Design
Redragon Galatin Pro K719 is a keyboard with a screen, and it has a gasket design. Redragon takes great pride in their setup, and their 1.41″ TFT display that shows a bit of info about the Galatin PRO Keyboard. Redragon K719 comes with a gasked design, which uses flexible covers that allow the keyboard plate to move slightly vertically, for reducing rigid noise, cushioning and for delivering a crisp, clean and softer typing feel.
You can connect the Galatin PRO K719 to your computer using the USB Type-C input, Bluetooth connection or 2.4 GHz Wireless mode, for a versatile keyboard to use with a PC Computer, smartphone / tablet and gaming consoles that could support it. As this is a mechanical keyboard, the custom Mint Mambo Switches found inside are a highlight for it, and those are thick-lubed custom linear switches with a silky typing feedback.
There ae 5 layers of sound dampening, with a silicone dampening layer at the bottom, socket foam, PET sound pad, UXPE Switch foam and 3.5mm PO Foam to reduce hollow noise and chassis noise. This keyboard also has a 95-key design, with a very small size.
You can use the volume wheel to control the internal settings, you press once and you activate the menu control. From there you can set the Win / MAC setting, brightness and RGB light effects, clock, and when you’re not in the menu, the wheel acts as a volume wheel. Redragon also has a more advanced software but I prefer not installing more software on my computer if I can avoid it.
Subjective Usage – Sound Quality
A huge part of using a keyboard is the subjective usage, and Galatin K719 PRO is quite good in most aspects. Starting with the chassis, it is a rather lightweight keyboard at 1.15 KGs, it feels plastic and can flex a bit, but at the same time it feels hollow and light. There are adjustment feet at the back that you can use to slightly raise the keyboard vertically, creating a more natural typing position. Because this is a 95% design, it lacks the Delete, Insert, Home and PG Up / PG Down buttons, but my typing experience is brilliant and it works wonders for typing and gaming, everything is exactly where I’d expect it to be.
Redragon uses a special Mint Mambo Switch with extra lubing, and those switches have one of the smoothest feelings in the world, no grind, no texture, just silky pure smoothness, easy to press, pleasing typing experience. They work equally well for gaming, and the weight of those switches is just right, hard enough to press to avoid mistakes, but not to tire out my fingers. Maximum typing speed is also incredibly fast as the Redragon K719 Galatin Pro is one of the fastest, most versatile keyboards I’ve typed on. In theory, the actuation travel of 2.0mm is ideal, and total travel of 3.6mm is perfect to, although the actuation force of 40gf makes the Galatin Pro theoretically a lighter feel keyboard, although to my fingers it feels really spot-on.
I am having an easy time using it for raw typing, but the right end does not feel as natural for me, especially the arrow switches as the OEM profile PBT keycaps are a bit hard to feel for compared to a more traditional keyboard like KeyChron Q6 MAX. This being said, those keycaps have a nice angle to their edge, they feel natural for my fingers and never edgy or harsh. RGB light effects are also fairly nice, a vague, somewhat bloomy light that shines from between the keycaps, which is nice for my typing and eyes.
With a large 4000mAh battery, I actually forgot to charge the keyboard for almost a week, it stays alive for longer than the KeyChron Q6 MAX which has the same size for the battery. Software support is right now in beta testing, but you can do everything you may need using the mini display, volume wheel and a bit of patience. Because there is no Delete Key, editing articles can be complicated, although writing them is a breeze.
While I left this at the end, the most important aspect, the sound of the Redragon Galatin PRO K719 is actually quite beautiful. It sounds somewhat hollow, but thoccky, deep, and has the sound of beating in a ripe watermelon, or beating in a dry log. It is quite nice, and while the most keys have a more solid press type and sound, the spacebar and wider keys really go for that watermelon sound. Most keys are just quite standard for a mechanical red linear key sound, although they are considerably smoother, more natural sounding than all alternatives.
One quite important aspect of the Galatin PRO K 719 is the chassis, which has rounded edges all-around, feeling much nicer to the touch and to work with than the ultra sharp edges of my daily Keychron Q6 MAX. The jade green color is also beautiful and calming in person, being a combination of an off-white main key, minty green keys and modern chassis.
Value and Conclusion
With a price tag that is half of what the competition has, Redragon delivers a typing and gaming performance that is comparable, although they do not offer a strong editing performance. I am not in need of a smaller keyboard, so for me, it would have been possible for this to have been a perfect 100% keyboard, so that it got a perfect 10/10 grade all across, but even so, for the price I never tried something that was better or even comparable, so K719 wins big time in the price / performance ratio.
At the end of the day, if you’re looking for a mechanical work / gaming keyboard with a beautiful design, ergonomic typing experience, competitive typing experience and with a thick lubing, beautiful typing sound, reliable build, and long battery life, Redragon Galatin PRO K719 is one of the best keyboards you can purchase today for its super low price point.
