Finally A Use For Those – Tozo S7 Smartwatch

Tozo S7 is a smartwatch priced at $39 USD and today we will make a short review exploring whether it could have any usage for an audiophile and how.

Introduction

Tozo is a company that makes entry-level, ultra affordable gadgets which are popular with teenagers and folks who want a generic, reliable product without having to pay too much for it.

As an Amazon Influencer, I earn from qualifying purchases, and using the purchase links in my reviews helps me maintain this website and Youtube Channel. Tozo has provided the sample for this review, in exchange for my honest opinion.

Build Quality – Design

Tozo S7 is a simple smartwatch with Bluetooth, and a 1.85″ Amoled display. We have actually reviewed a couple of products from Tozo including their Tozo Open Buds, Tozo Golden X1 IEMs, and the rather beautiful Tozo S5 Smartwatch. As you may have noted from my Tozo S5 review, I did not like it very much, as I perceived it to be something that just distracts you from music, but with the aid of my wife, we found a practical usage that will be relevant to music lovers.

Please read this whole review with a grain of salt, I am not advocating for smartwatches, but they can have their usage. Starting with the features, Tozo S7 has a couple of features that I disabled instantly after setting it, including Bluetooth Call, as I don’t like to feel like someone from a spy movie talking into his watch. Smart Notifications are turned off for me, I want as few notifications as possible, and I also don’t need the watch to do anything but light up to show me some data when I want it.

On the stuff that is fun and useful, it has a 10 days battery life, which is excellent really, 30 days standby time, you basically charge it 2-3 times per month realistically, which I like. If you look at it a lot, or use high brightness, you will need to charge it once or twice per week. That Amoled display is crisp, beautiful and colorful, although you can’t see much on it except for multiple clock faces.

Subjective Usage

The useful part comes now. Tozo S7 can track your health including stress levels, sleep quality, it has IP68 Dust and Water Ingress Protection rating, and it has a fitness tracker. While this does not seem that useful at first view, I noticed a strong connection between indicated stress levels and my ability to focus on music, to enjoy sound and to listen to music. Sleep quality is also a key factor for mental acuity, general heatlh condition, and while this isn’t 100% accurate, it is accurate enough that it gives you some idea of how well / how bad you’re resting.

This can help you curb out bad behaviors, like eating too much before bed, spending too much on a smartphone, and as a nice thing I found out, relaxing before bed while reading a book, or listening to your favorite album with your eyes closed, will actually give you better sleep, better focus next day, better sound quality form your system. So having a tracker for stress levels and sleep quality can be very good for your health. Also, once you disable all notifications, this watch is nice for checking your emails quickly and getting a glance to know the hour.

As long as it does not light up, as long as it does not vibrate or make a noise. I will legit throw it to the wall if it ever does make a noise or vibrate randomly, but it can be a useful way to check your smartphone less, and attain better focus, less smartphone mental fog. You can even control music playback with it, which is again, pretty useful if you want to force yourself to check your smartphone less and enjoy life more. Once I understood how to get the most of it, this one is smaller, more ergonomic than the S5, although not as beautiful and masculine, not as cool, it is useful for sure.

It is not perfect by any means, you need an app to make it work, you need to sometimes remind it warmly that it was set to mute, and you need to make sure to bring their special charger if you’re on a vacation.

Value and Conclusion

Tozo S7 is not pricey, but it can help you curve out bad habits, it can be useful to lower your passive screen time and help you achieve better focus, but you have to work with it. I find the price to be great for the quality and features you receive. If you want this thing to vibrate and ring on your hand, feel free to do it, but this is audiophile-heaven, anything that distracts me from music is getting straight in the trash bin. Anthing that can help me get a better experience listening to music is going to be talked about.

At the end of the day, I am not a technophobe but actually a technophile, and I want this tech part to work with me, to help me. Tozo S7 can help me focus better, rest better, stay in better health, and for this alone I think it is a worthy purchase to consider if you ever wanted a smartwatch. The quality difference between it and much pricier ones is not justifiable by the price increase, get a cheap and good one and enjoy life.
